Micropigmentation techniques utilize the process of
pigment insertion under the dermal layer of the skin (from
0.05 mm to 2.0 mm -- approximately the depth of a dime) for
maximum pigment retention. The pigment can be inserted under
the skin with various modalities such as a manual hand held
tool or with rotary, digital or coil machines. At Exquisite
Makeovers, I prefer to use a state-of-the-art German made
digital machine: Nouveau
Contour Intelligent. This advanced micropigmentation
device allows for high precision pigment placement ensuring
pigment is evenly distributed into the skin at any speed.
This in turn offers a great deal of precision in execution
of fine detail work such as eyebrow hair simulation, lip line
enhancement or eyelash enhancement.
In my practice, I also use a Dynasty Sapphire 2000 rotary pen. This machine is predominantly used for patch and
allergy tests as well as some of the needling procedures.
By using electronically/digitally powered tools, I find that the procedure
time is cut in half and tissue trauma and irritation are kept
to a minimum. For the client this means quicker recovery from
the procedure and minimal discomfort during the procedure
itself.
All of the procedures are performed with one time use sterile
needles and barrier film to ensure there is no cross contamination
with blood borne pathogens (EEG. HIV, Hepatitis and others)
or harmful bacteria. Disposable machine casings and machine
parts are used with Dynasty Sapphire. For virtually pain free
makeup application, topical anesthetics are used with every
procedure. Colour patch tests are recommended for all procedures
4 weeks prior to the procedure in order to determine which
colour blends are most suitable for individual clients and
to see if any allergic reactions have taken place.

Eyebrow hair simulation is used to reconstruct or define
the shape of the uneven or sparse brow. By defining the brows
we can enhance facial balance and bring more focus to
the eyes and your facial expressions. The arch of your brow
expresses your mood and can even make you look younger.
During the procedure the technician will help you choose a
suitable and flattering colour blend to enhance or reconstruct
your eyebrows. Colours can be blended to achieve a multi-dimensional
and natural look.
Using your brow bone as a guide, a skillful technician is
able to beautifully create eyebrows that will define your
face, lift your eyes and take years off of your face!
Using either the digital or rotary machine, eyebrows are softly
feathered with fine lines simulating the appearance of natural
hair and creating a perfect and contoured arch for your brows.

Permanent eyeliner, pigment wash or lash
enhancement are procedures that will benefit women with
conventional makeup allergies, women who wear contact lenses,
have poor eyesight, shaky hands or a physical impairment that
prevents them from applying eye makeup.
During the permanent eyeliner application, carefully chosen
colour is applied in a solid line along the upper eyelash
line. The line is placed in between the eyelashes giving you
a fuller and darker lash look.
If you are not sure whether you like a solid eyeliner, I highly
recommend a lash enhancement at the initial procedure. This
technique is performed by insertion of pigment directly into
the lash line with a soft and refined line or a series of
dots that subtly define your eyes. A more solid line can be
applied during the touch up appointment 6 to 8 weeks post
initial pigment application.
To achieve a natural looking lower lash line, a subtle line
or a series of pointillism dots placed directly in the lash
line are recommended. The final result is a contoured, natural
looking yet defined eye.

Imagine having a beautiful lip colour morning through night,
24 hours a day, throughout the year. Micropigmentation lip procedures can reshape and redefine
your lips with a natural looking lip liner or full lip colour.
Natural looking pigments are recommended, for lip enhancement,
however, each client can choose a colour s/he will be most
happy with. Lighter pigments have a lower colour retention
in the lip vermilion than the darker and more vibrant ones,
however, lighter colours can always be dressed up with a darker
lipstick for times when a more dramatic look is desired.
Individuals who are not sure if they would like to have a
full lip colour done have an option of choosing a lip liner
in conjunction with either dégradé or sparkling or a combination of both. Dégradé procedure involves partial and gradual shading of the lip.
This procedure is recommended for women with prominent "Angelina"
type lips. Sparkling procedure involves implanting
random dots of pigment into both top and bottom lip vermilion
for settle colour enhancement.
However, before undergoing either lip liner or full colour
application each client is required to take one of the following
prescription drugs: Zovirax, Famvir or Valtrex for
5 days pre procedure and 5 days post procedure to avoid a
possible Herpetic outbreak that can compromise the permanent
lip colour. Herpes can lead to colour loss and patchy
lip look even if the outbreak occurs months after the lip
colour has been applied. Clients who experience frequent outbreaks and have no visible Herpetic scarring are advised to stay away from permanent lip colour. Case by case evaluation is necessary for clients who have visible Herpetic scarring and wish to even out their lip shape and colour. These clients need to be aware that more scarring can occur in the future with every outbreak they have and that there is a risk of colour lifting when these outbreaks occur. So despite the fact that a permanent
lip colour is extremely convenient, this procedure is not
for everyone and individual factors need to be carefully considered before undergoing this procedure.
Lips are extremely sensitive, so to avoid discomfort, the
lip liner or full colour can be performed after topical anesthetic
application or with the help of a dental Field Block injection
directly into the lip vermilion - this should be done after the lip line has been defined by the technician, to avoid unwanted results. Such injection has to be
performed by a licensed dentist. The type of anesthesia used,
however, is a personal choice of each and every client and
should be discussed with the technician prior to procedure
application.

Loosing ones breasts to cancer is a very traumatic experience
for any woman. With breast reconstruction, a woman can regain
piece of herself she has lost due to this devastating illness.
Re-pigmentation to the areola/nipple is the last step in breast
reconstruction process and gives the newly remodeled breasts
a finished and more naturalistic look. For women who have
undergone a mastectomy and breast reconstruction, the areola
reconstruction can be performed 6 - 12 months post procedure
to ensure all of the scars and tissues have had enough time
to heal.
Areola enlargement can be performed
on women who have undergone breast augmentation and would
prefer larger looking areolas.
Also, areola re-pigmentation/lightening and reshaping can be performed on any woman who wishes to alter either the
colour or shape of her areolas for a more symmetrical and
more appealing look.
Areolas require custom colour blends and multiple sittings
to achieve a natural appearance. The procedure is performed
under a topical anesthetic to minimize the discomfort.

Corrective Pigment Camouflage (CPC) or medical skin camouflage is focused on skin's colour correction and pigment restoration
to create an illusion of smoother more even looking skin.
People who will benefit the most from this procedure are individuals
who have visible surgery or accidental scaring; pigment loss
due to illness such as Vitiligo or Hypo-Pigmentation; pigment
over saturation due to Hyper-Pigmemtation; or burn patients.
CPC procedures can be performed with either a digital or coil
machines depending on skin thickness and condition. This is
a multi-step process so the procedure is always performed
in several sittings, beginning with a mandatory patch test
to see what colours will suit your skin type the most. If
there are more than one areas to be re-pigmented, more than
one patch test will be required to determine the best colour
choices for all individual skin areas to be re-pigmented.
The number of sittings will be determined by the skin's ability
to accept the pigment, however in most cases, 4 or more sittings
are required. The final procedure results cannot be determined
until all pigment applications are completed. The entire process
can take anywhere from 3 to 12 months to complete.
An interview and injury assessment are also mandatory for
this kind of procedure to identify patient's needs and expectations.
In some cases, medical records will have to be reviewed to
determine if the individual is a good candidate for this type
of a procedure.
CPC can be performed with or without a topical anesthetic,
depending on patient's tolerance to pain (some burn patients
might not require any anesthesia due to loss of touch sensation
in their skin).
Needling is a form of "dry" tattooing that
involves either a rotary, digital or coil machine depending
on skin thickness. The purpose of this procedure is to diminish
fine facial lines and for scar relaxation predominantly
in burn patients.
To diminish facial lines, the procedure is performed
in the wrinkle area only. This cutting edge procedure stimulates
skin's natural collagen production and requires no painful
and toxic injections to create more supple skin texture. For
optimal results, the procedure should be performed every 4
weeks at the beginning stages and repeated every 3 months
to maintain skin plumpness. Visible results can be seen after
a second appointment.
Scar Relaxation is predominantly
used on burn patients to to soften the fibrous bands of collagen
(scar tissue) and to give patients more flexibility in their
movements. This procedure works well on all contracted tissue
with exceptional results on the hands.
Needling has also been known to show great results with pigment restoration
on individuals with dark colour skin. Since no pigment application
is required, in some cases, needling should be the first step
in Corrective Pigment Camouflage procedures.
