about the artist

Sylvia A. Derwich

Sylvia A. Derwich is a Certified Micropigmentation Specialist practicing application of permanent cosmetics since 2006. She has received extensive training and completed both beginner and advanced microdermal pigmentation courses while graduating at the top of her class from the prestigious International Institute of Permanent Cosmetics in California. At IIPC she has studied and developed her skills in the art of micropigmentation with Susan Church, CCPC who is one of the leading permanent makeup practitioners, educators and industry safety advocates in United States. In 2007, through continuing education, Sylvia has perfected her skills and successfully completed advanced training and workshops on the application of permanent makeup and corrective cosmetic tattooing in Canada at The Micro-Pigmentation Centre, Inc., North America's leading training centre.

Sylvia's extensive background in fine arts, drawing and realistic portrait painting gives her a unique advantage when it comes to procedure design and execution (view art portfolio). Her strength lies in the ability to combine her artistry and technical skills to create multidimensional, soft and elegant applications of permanent cosmetics that suit the individual needs of each and every client (view procedure portfolio). She is patient yet enthusiastic individual with a steady hand, precise eye-hand coordination and high attention for detail.

Sylvia's technical strength lies in the expert use of both types of permanent makeup application methods: manual hand method and digital machine method, giving her an additional edge over other micropigmentation technicians. This unique ability allows Sylvia to choose the right method of micropigmentation application to suit every client's individual needs.

Sylvia is a warm, knowledgable, very direct, discreet and honest person interested in her clients' best interests, safety and satisfaction.  She takes time to talk, listen and inform all clients about permanent makeup and answer any questions they may have regarding this field.

Sylvia A. Derwich at workBefore any tattooing takes place, Sylvia ensures every client is happy with chosen pigment shades and procedure shapes. She checks for symmetry and confirms that the client is fully satisfied with proposed look of the procedure. When it comes to micropigmentation, Sylvia believes that less is more and she leaves no room for surprises. Subtle enhancement of facial features is the main objective of her work as she strives to deliver natural-looking effects for each and every client.

In her professional work, Sylvia insists on the highest standards of safety for both her clients and herself. She employs the same medical sterilization, isolation and sanitization standards adhered to by physicians and hospitals. To ensure client safety Sylvia uses the most sophisticated and up to date equipment developed by the world's leading manufacturers in Germany, best quality pigments and topical anesthetics, barrier film, one time use disposable needles and total occlusion of the tattoo handpiece, virtually eliminating the possibility of cross contamination.

Sylvia's drive to stay at the leading edge of technical and artistic innovation in this industry has quickly established her an excellent reputation for her work. Her professional motto is quality, safety and client satisfaction!
